The Wall Street Journal announced the 2010 rankings of the top real estate professionals in the country based on 2009 transaction sides. Nine Michigan Realtor® sales professionals were included in these prestigious rankings, with three individuals in the top ten. Updated information on SAFE Act implementation
In an effort to crack down on mortgage fraud, Congress passed the Safe and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the “SAFE Act”). Under the SAFE Act, individual states (and the federal government) are required to establish uniform regulations and minimum licensing requirements for mortgage loan originators. “Mortgage Loan Originators” in some instances include sellers financing the sale of their own property. Home Valuation Code of Conduct to Sunset with Passage of Financial Reform Bill
President Obama has signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 4173) into law. Included in this legislation is a provision which would sunset the much maligned Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC). The HVCC was put into place as an agreement between New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with the intent to change appraiser selection criteria to help eliminate conflicts of interest on mortgage appraisals. As a result of this agreement, Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs) have an increased role in the appraisal process. ... more
